YEP Updates - September 14th

Burbank YEP Families,

It has been amazing to see many of our students logging-in to our daily Zoom sessions. We are thrilled that we can interact with the majority of our students daily. We wanted to provide some important reminders and provide clarification on Google Classroom assignments.

Student Attendance: Student attendance is vital to the success of our program. Student attendance directly impacts YEP funding. During our Expanded Distance Learning Program, we are counting on attendance in two major ways

  1. Live Session Zoom Sessions

or

  1. Google Classroom Activity

Live Session Attendance: Attendance is taken when a student logs-on to our daily Zoom Session. We hold our daily Zoom Sessions between 3:00 PM to 4:15 PM.

Google Classroom Attendance: Attendance is taken when a student completes an activity that has been posted to the Google Classroom. The assignment can be on Google Classroom, EPIC, or Flipgrid. It can be as easy as answering the question/riddle of the day.

While we would like all students to join our daily Zoom sessions, we understand that sometimes that may not be possible. Therefore, we ask that students complete one of the above items to be counted towards attendance for the day.

Google Classroom Assignments: Our staff works hard to post meaningful activities they feel the students would enjoy. These activities are meant to be fun. Please do not worry about the “due dates.”

Classwork/Homework Support: Our staff will be providing classwork/homework support daily during our office hours of 1:15 PM to 2:15 PM. This is not mandatory for students to attend. In the upcoming week, we will be providing more information.
